The number two pick on our Top 5 Antivirus Software list, Bitdefender, has been named as a ‘Visionary’ company by the respected technology research firm Gartner.

Bitdefender was recognized for its malware detection and prevention, in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms – an annual research report on enterprise security platforms.

The Bucharest-based company, who we awarded as “Most Innovative” antivirus protection, also received praise for its customer support.

In a statement, Bitdefender described the award as “validation of our uniquely forward-looking thought pattern that has driven us to innovate in adaptive cyber-security technologies.”

It added that GravityZone, the enterprise platform evaluated by Gartner, was “the first security solution to properly address the scalability and performance challenges enterprises now face.”

• Bitdefender has added ransomware protection to the latest version of its consumer software, Total Security 2016. The system, which is based on machine learning technology, protects important personal files from being locked or encrypted by malicious software.

The Gartner award comes as no surprise. We rate the company’s award-winning consumer product, Bitdefender’s Total Security 2016, very highly. You can check out our full review here.
